"Before mass leaders seize the power to fit reality to their lies, their propaganda is marked by extreme contempt for facts as such, for in their opinion fact depends entirely on the power of man who can fabricate it..." -- Hannah Arendt, "The Origins of Totalitarianism"
A discussion of recent events had someone of my acquaintance vomit forth this little pearl of knothead (paraphrased):
"The 'intelligence community' warned Trump about Coronavirus in January. He did nothing and did not listen to them. Trump has the blood of 60,000 dead on his hands."
You have to be an idiot to swallow this line of...I hesitate to call it "logic"...for a variety of reasons. The first being that even if the "intelligence community" had been heeded, the accuser has no answer for the obvious follow-up question "well, what do you expect Trump would have done differently in January that he did not do in February or March?"
And of course the accuser has no answer for that question because they're not particularly interested in having it answered; they just want to make an accusation and appear smarter than they are. The fact of the matter is, they don't have any idea of what "the intelligence community" said or didn't say in January, except the say-so of a newspaper reporter repeating the accusations of "unnamed sources", and faithfully regurgitated by Rachael Maddow.
Considering the news media in this country has proven itself vastly untrustworthy, and that we can recite an entire history of politically-motivated "leaks" by minor officials, and sometimes even "leaks" made with unmitigated malice by major officials, I would be loathe to believe anything that comes from "an unnamed source", "the intelligence community", or any American bureaucrat, and which was repeated in any Leftist forum.
I'm more-inclined to believe Bill Clinton, on any subject, than I am an American newspaper reporter or "intelligence source". Neither has much in the way of credibility, anymore.
All of this has me thinking that, if it was even remotely true, then WHY would Trump ignore the advice of his "intelligence community"?
Of course, the answer only required 1.73 seconds of brainpower (I may have been hung over) to obtain.
What we already know of the "Russian Collusion" saga -- career bureaucrats and political appointees sought to strangle the Trump presidency in it's cradle for their own self-serving ends. As part of this process, we learned that the CIA, NSA and FBI all went rogue; they broke fundamental laws; they attempted to entrap people and threaten them into committing perjury; they fabricated evidence of crimes; they submitted false evidence to a FISA court; they illegally spied upon American citizens and an American presidential campaign, and sometimes enlisted the help of foreign operatives to do so, because James Clapper, James Comey and John Brennan and some of their minions took it upon themselves to decide what the results of an election should have been.
It remains to be seen if Barack Obama and his trained aardvark -- current democratic (small 'd' intentional) "front runner", Joe "Bloody Eyes, Wandrin' Hands" Biden --- were involved in the shenanigans, but somehow you just know they were.
Three years of investigations into nothing. Three years of endless hearings about nothing. Three years of government officials in the DoJ, FBI, CIA, NSA posturing and lying through their teeth, and even when caught red-handed, insisting they are acting on behalf of some higher calling than mere "politics", that all ended in a farce of an impeachment vote that, in the end, was little more than a face-saving-but-useless gesture on the part of the American Left. A Left that made it clear that the ultimate goal was never to tell the truth, but just to smear Trump in the eyes of history.
It's a douche move they continue to pull til this day.
Like when they accuse Trump of being a killer because he "didn't listen to his intelligence community". It's simply one more unproven, and unprovable, accusation. It's another "asterisk next to his name", as Nancy Pelosi might say. It's spite. Of a quite menstrual quality, I might add.
But, let's put ourselves in the President's shoes for a moment. Let's assume the accusation is true:
If you were on the receiving end of 4 years (going all the way back to your announcement of your candidacy) of an orchestrated effort by the "intelligence community" of this country to destroy you, to threaten your friends and family and anyone who may think of working for you later in your tenure, which has already shown a contempt for you, your rights, and the rule of law, has proven they will lie to the press and public, manipulate evidence, lie to judges, submit false testimony under oath, use extortion to suborn perjury, ....then why the hell would or could you ever believe or trust anything they ever tell you?
What makes this especially galling is that the people complaining the loudest about "not being listened to" are the same people who undermined their own credibility in the first place. Now, suddenly, they're victims as much as the 60,000?
The entire Russian Collusion/Impeachment nonsense destroyed the trust that must exist between a President and his "intelligence community" (which doesn't seem, in retrospect, very intelligent). It wrecked the hope that in a time of crisis that partisan politics could be put aside (having lost impeachment, Nancy Pelosi has been nothing but obstructionist, obnoxious, and petty; futile gestures of defiance is all she has left. If it kills a bunch of other people, so what?). But none of this is happening: the game of "Get Trump" continues in the least-effective, I think, but slimiest manner: the thousand cuts of unverified leaks made by anonymous sources.
If anyone has "the blood of 60,000 people" on their hands, their names are Pelosi, Schumer, Schiff, Clapper, Brennan, Comey, Strzok, Page, Rosenstein, Ohr, Mueller, and the rest of the Clown Parade that is the Modern American Left.
UPDATE: Corrected some grammar.

So they want Trump to "listen to the intelligence community" but GBush "listened to his intelligence community" and they cried "Bush lied - people died" all the effing time.
I am sick of the left. They can all burn in Hell.
